Keyshia Covington Headshot

My name is Keyshia Covington and here is a little information about me. I am an international medical graduate. I lived and worked in Havana, Cuba for several years which allowed me to become bilingual in English and Spanish. The focus of my training was to address the patient as a complete bio-psycho-social-spiritual being with emphasis on the “whole” and not just disease. As a result of this focus my training incorporated traditional allopathic medicine as well as alternative/integrative modalities and tropical/disaster medicine. In 2010, in response to the earthquake that devasted the island of Haiti; I answered the call for medical support and became a part of a medical delegation, the Henry Reeves International Medical Brigade in Port Au Prince, Haiti. Living in Haiti for several months during this disaster, that took the lives of thousands; made me have an awareness and greater appreciation of life and how I could utilize my gifts to be a contribution.

What is Access Bars®?

This is a gentle hands-on energetic modality in which 32 pressure points on the skull, that correspond to various areas and aspects of life are manipulated in a specific sequence. Touching these points, which are referred to as “the bars” help create an electromagnetic release of negative energy, mental and physical blocks stored within the body and stimulate positive changes in the brain. Access Bars® has been used to help thousands of people throughout the world facilitate a sense of wellbeing and relief of various mental, emotional, and physical issues. Bars therapy can help promote mental clarity, relaxation and reduction of stress. In a pilot study conducted by Dr. Terrie Hope Ph.D., DNM, CFMW in the journal of energy psychology (vol 9, 2, Nov 2017, energypsychologyjournal.org), Dr. Hope reports one 90 minute session was associated with a significant decrease in depressive and anxiety symptoms of study participants. In these unprecedented times any safe noninvasive therapy with the potential to bring even the slightest bit of relief is worth a try! The possibilities are endless, so why not get your Bars® run?

Fast forward I found myself in Detroit and began working for a philanthropic organization that ran a free clinic for uninsured women. During my time with this organization I helped develop various patient education and wellness programs, recruited naturopathic physicians and other alternative practitioners to help promote wellness to this population of women. I also helped to develop a mobile mammogram program that has to date helped hundreds of women detect and treat abnormal mammograms. Recently, I found myself on the other side of the medical table becoming a patient after facing a serious illness and personally experiencing the disparities that exists in medicine. As a result of my illness I began to explore energy and frequency medicine modalities. I became incredibly interested and focused on modalities used to calm the central nervous system. I studied integrative health and wellness and discovered how intuitive/energetic clearings could help ease the signs and symptoms of stress and pain. These discoveries were a result of learning Usui Holy fire® reiki, energy medicine techniques and being introduced to access consciousness® and becoming a practitioner of Access Bars®.
